Irony Inc. is hosting its first esports tournament in India - The GamerzArena x Circuit Free Fire Open. This tournament is in partnership with Alpha Esports Tech Inc. ("Alpha Tech") and Garena . The tournament will be hosted on Alpha Tech's online platform - GamerzArena and will witness 48 teams battle it out for a prize pool of INR 1,00,000 (Indian Rupees One Lakh Only)
The tournament will begin on the 25th of February with League Qualifiers and have its Grand Finale on the 28th of March. To register, teams will need to visit irony.gamerzarena.com and sign up.
Free Fire is one of the most popular esports titles in India. The game is one of the most popular mobile games in the world and recently won Mobile game of the year at the Esports Awards in 2020. It also won the Best Popular Vote Game award from Google Play in 2019 and gained 225 million downloads in the first three quarters of 2020 alone.
“Esports viewership and fandom are rising much faster than any traditional sport in the world today, yet, as things stand, the biggest brands are missing out on India’s esports revolution", said Ankit Bhatia, co-founder of Irony.
